Background

Kymenlaakso is located in the South-Eastern part of Finland (ca 300km from St. Petersburg Russia and 140km from Helsinki). The region has a strong logistics cluster that employs ca. 10 000 people. Kymenlaakso is known for being the "transit region" serving as the main transit cargo route between Russia and Finland.

There are a lot of actors developing logistics operations through research and development and education in the Kymenlaakso region. However, there is a constant demand for creating new innovations and knowledge in order to increase the competitiveness of the Kymenlaakso logistics environment. NELI serves this purpose. The programme aims at bringing together the R&D&I community and the business actors in order to develop logistics and the region to reach its full potential.
